Howard B. Seim III DVM Diplomate ACVS

 

Howard is a Professor of Small Animal Surgery, Colorado State University and a graduate of Washington State University. He did his internship at Saskatoon, Canada, followed by a residency at the Animal Medical Centre in New York City and has been teaching small animal surgery at Colorado State University for 30 years. He was Chief of the Small Animal Surgery section at Colorado State University from 1992 to 2002.

 

Course summary

 

Course content

This course is designed to teach participants the technical aspects of a variety of practical soft tissue
surgery procedures. Topics have been chosen that represent surgical conditions commonly seen in
veterinary practice. Specific topics will include abdominal exploratory and visceral biopsy, plus principles of intestinal surgery (enterotomy and anastomosis), surgical management of megacolon in cats, linear foreign bodies and surgery of the stomach. Feeding tube placement will also be covered. Emphasis will be placed on the technical aspects used to perform each procedure. Videos of clinical case material will be used extensively throughout the lectures to help illustrate each technique.

This course is designed for veterinarians interested in providing a higher level of surgical treatment for a variety of practical soft tissue surgery techniques in their practice. Techniques have been chosen that represent many of the common procedures seen in your practice everyday. If you have been thinking of incorporating more surgery into your practice then this course is a must.
