Course outline
All clinicians in equine work use clinicopathological tests but many of us do not really understand what tests to request in the varying clinical syndromes we come up against and what the results mean to our differential diagnosis. This course aims to address these problems by discussing the use, and interpretation, of clinical pathology tests in a variety of commonly occurring clinical syndromes and entities. Using a mixture of lectures, case-based small group discussions, panel discussions and ample time for questioning of tutors, the delegates will be able to develop their own ideas about which clinicopathological tests to use in the future. The course will be run in a friendly and informal style using the talents of a group of equine clinicians from both private practice and university clinics. It is suitable for both mixed and equine clinicians in practice as well as fulfilling part of the syllabus of the original and new RCVS equine certificates.
