This one day course will consider the pathogenesis of seizures in small animals. Advances in diagnostic techniques will be described indicating how the many intracranial and extracranial causes can be diagnosed. This will include a discussion of the application of MRI as both a diagnostic and prognostic tool in seizuring patients. Conventional treatments and not so conventional treatments will be discussed and a review of the drugs that are sometimes required under the cascade. A step by step procedure for dealing with status epilepticus will be described. Although the course consists of lectures there will be opportunities for interaction.
