Principal Tutor: Fintan McEvoy MVB PhD DVR MRVCS
Fintan is currently a Senior Lecturer in Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging at the University of Copenhagen. He holds the RCVS and European College Diplomas in Diagnostic Imaging, and a PhD from the University of London. Imaging is a vital part of case management from initial diagnosis to documenting response to treatment. This course will be case-based, focusing on the usefulness of a combined ultrasonographic and radiographic imaging approach to case management. Regions covered will include intestinal, liver and urogenital systems and the peritoneal and pleural cavities. CT images will be used, where possible, to provide insights into the interpretation of conventional radiographic images. Practical film reading and hands-on ultrasound sessions will cover commonly encountered diagnostic challenges.
Key Learning Objectives:

By the end of this course, delegates should have a thorough understanding of:

• The relative merits of radiography and ultrasound in various clinical scenarios

• How radiology and ultrasound imaging can be used to complement each other

• Practical issues relating to digital radiography and current ultrasonographic technologies

• Specific imaging and biopsy protocols applicable to commonly encountered imaging cases

• The merits of multiple views in gaining an appreciation of anatomy in three dimensions
