Vets that are actively engaged in providing an emergency service need continuous education and training in order to keep abreast of the latest developments in the subject. This highly innovative, interactive and practical three-day course has been designed to enable vets to perform practical procedures in emergency techniques, anaesthesia and critical care and provide a state of the art review of these subjects. The course consists of a mixture of update lectures and hands-on sessions with real cases delivered in a high standard facility. The small-group nature will allow each delegate to be closely supervised by a specialist in order to achieve real progress in practical techniques, which will lead to greater confidence in these specific areas;
• Know how to act when presented with an animal in different forms of shock
• Assess a patients fluid needs and know how to use fluid therapy or transfusion in different situations
• Recognize and treat the most common medical and surgical emergencies
• Perform a cardiopulmonary-cerebral resuscitation
• Know the benefits of monitoring devices like CVP, SPO2, ETCO2, ECG, IBP, NIBP
• Use narcotics and analgesics in critically ill patients
Delegates have an option of just attending the three-day course which will be held outside Oporto, Portugal or attending the course and then staying on for two days of relaxation. The prices include return flights from Gatwick Airport, transfers to and from Oporto airport and accommodation in the four-star Melia Hotel. The accommodation is full board during the three-day course and transfers will be provided to the conference facility. Following the course, delegates can choose to visit Oporto City and take a cruise down the Douro River or alternatively visit Aveiro City and enjoy the nearby beach.
