Joao graduated as a veterinary surgeon from the University of Oporto (Portugal) in 2001. He started working in private practice in Portugal during which time he developed a special interest in cardiology. In April 2003 he moved to the U.K. and spent two years in practice. In May 2005 he moved to Liverpool to take the position of Resident in Veterinary Cardiology. He gained his RCVS Certificate in Veterinary Cardiology in 2006 and he is currently working towards his ECVIM diploma.
Course content
The course will cover several aspects of clinical cardiology with a focus on practical tips. History, physical examination, clinical pathology, blood pressure measurement, pericardiocentesis, electrocardiography and echocardiography will all be reviewed.
