Acupuncture in small animal practice - a beginners guide

Trixie started using acupuncture in 1979. She was one of the first vets in the country to use acupuncture and has considerable experience of acupuncture in general practice.

Course content
Acupuncture is very useful in alleviating pain and increasing an animal’s resistance to disease. This introductory course will cover: Basic principles of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) Acupuncture points and their locations Principles of therapy Acupuncture point stimulation and response Dangers and contradictions Acupuncture in veterinary practice – cases Clinical demonstration.
Key Learning Objectives:

Who should attend

Veterinary surgeons in practice who wish to complement their work by using acupuncture. Only veterinary surgeons are allowed to perform acupuncture on animals.

 

What the course will help the attendees to do

• Learn the basic principles of TCM

• Learn the principles of therapy of acupuncture

• Locate the acupuncture points

• Realise where acupuncture can be useful in practice

• Be able to use simple acupuncture to benefit in their patients

• Develop an interest in acupuncture
