Summary
This comprehensive and interactive course will review all aspects of clinical cardiology focusing on the recent advances in diagnosis and evidence based therapy. Lectures will be supported by several murmur recordings, electrocardiograms, thoracic radiographs, echocardiography movies and angiograms of common cardiac cases but also of more unusual conditions. Practical sessions have been designed to complement the theorical principals with clinical cases, but one day will be devoted to mostly hands-on echocardiography to allow delegates to follow a step-bystep approach from the basics to the more advanced aspects of this most relevant diagnostic tool.

Physical examination - from murmurs to positive hepato-jugular reflux

 

Friday afternoon

Seminars: Electrocardiography - how to record the perfect ECG? Electrocardiography - from sinus arrhythmia to ventricular fibrillation

Practical sessions: Clinical cases – artefacts, common arrhythmias and challenging ECGs

 

Saturday morning

Seminars: Thoracic radiography – how to improve radiographic quality

Thoracic radiography – from left atrial enlargement to pulmonic stenosis

Practical sessions: Clinical cases – thoracic radiography strengths and limitations

 

Saturday afternoon

Seminars: Cardiac therapeutics – basic principals, what’s new and what can we learn from clinical studies?

Practical sessions: Clinical cases – group discussion

 

Sunday morning

Seminars: Understanding echocardiography Echocardiography – 2D, M-mode

Practical sessions: Practical echocardiography

 

Sunday afternoon
