Fancy Fowl and Game Birds are increasing in popularity with a concomitant increase in the need for veterinary advice and care. This one day introductory course will cover the basic skills required to investigate common diseases and their control; a post mortem demonstration; medication and vaccination strategies; bio-security with particular emphasis on routine hygiene, disinfection and parasite control. Finally, the preparation of a Veterinary Health and Welfare plan for owners of larger flocks will be included.

Who should attend

This course is designed to give confidence to those clinicians at the bottom of the pecking order who, invariably, are given the avian consultation. It is a refresher for those who have forgotten their avian medicine; an introduction for those who missed their college lectures or a stimulus to improve, for those who understand how poorly the veterinary profession serves these clients.
