Alan Robinson BVSc DMS MRCVS

 

Alan qualified as a Veterinary Surgeon in Australia and has 23 years experience in practice in the UK and Australia. He has worked as a consultant in the areas of technical service, training, product development and marketing for the veterinary pharmaceutical industry and has successfully delivered coaching and management consultancy in electronics, pharmaceutical, global retail and veterinary industries. Current projects in the veterinary market include benchmarking, CPD workshops and practice performance management.

Course summary

This course is taken from the full programme Nurse Certificate in Business Development. Now accredited by the European School of Veterinary Postgraduate Studies, the programme leads to the qualification Nurses Certificate in Business Development  - NCert(BusDev)

 

Many veterinary nurses have responsibilities for areas of practice management or practice development.

This course has been designed for those nurses who wish to further develop their skills in these areas, possibly with a view to moving into practice management.

 

The interactive and fun modules that make up the modular course will guide delegates through the different aspects of marketing and management within a forward-thinking veterinary practice. Delegates will be able to take key ideas and practical techniques back to their practices right from the first session. Each session suitable as an individual day course, or you can attend two days back-to-back.

 

Key Learning Objectives:

 

Day One

Personnel Management I

 

By the end of this module, delegates should be able to satisfactorily perform a range of personnel management tasks including:

 

  • Recruitment: preparation of job description, person specification, job advert, interview questions, selection criteria

Day Two

Personnel Management II

 

By the end of this module, delegates should have a good understanding of key areas of staff management including:

  • Induction and training,
  • Appraisal, motivation and teamwork
  • Dealing with difficult staff
  • Preparation of rotas and staff handbooks
  • Personnel files and records

Registration and coffee 9.15am. Course starts at 9.30am and finishes at 5.00pm

 

 

Course Fees:

£435.10 plus VAT (£511.24 in total)

 

Fees include notes online before and after the event (where available), refreshments and a buffet meal, and hard copies of notes on the day.

 

Accommodation is not included, but is available at the venue (Alexandra House) where we have managed to secure a certain number of rooms at negotiated rates.
