Kathy Anzuino BVM&S CertWEL MRCVS

 

Kathy qualified from Edinburgh in 1993. She spent 10 years in general practice before undertaking a three year residency in farm animal welfare at Bristol University. Kathy gained the RCVS Certificate in animal welfare science, ethics and law in 2000.

 

Course Content

 

Animal welfare and ethics are central to veterinary work and, as such, an important part of practice management decisions. This course addresses the following topics in relation to general practice management: What actually is animal welfare? How can welfare be assessed? How can this information help us in everyday veterinary practice? What do we mean by ethics? This course includes professional ethics, the RCVS Guide to Professional Conduct and its application, business ethics (advertising, sales and direction of veterinary practice) as well as techniques that can be used to improve our decision making.

By the end of this course, delegates should understand:

 

• The RCVS Guide to Professional Conduct and its application

• The role of veterinary practice in the broader context of society

• Animal welfare issues in general practice, in particular recognising the welfare state of an animal

• Inter-professional relationships
