Course Content
Diseases of the gastrointestinal tract are a common reason for presentation of cats to vets in practice. Some of the disorders are challenging to the practitioner because they are difficult either to recognise, to diagnose or manage. There have been important developments in our knowledge of some of these disorders recently – such as pancreatitis. WSAVA have also undertaken expert reviews of IBD and inflammatory liver disease which has helped to clarify understanding. This course will cover the major gastrointestinal tract disorders of cats. It will concentrate on the more common disorders and those for which there have been important recent developments. This will be based on a practical approach using case examples. Topics to be covered will be:
• Vomiting/regurgitation – upper gastrointestinal problems
• Diarrhoea – particularly IBD and other lower gastrointestinal problems
• Pancreatitis
• Inflammatory liver diseases
