Diane Addie BVMS PhD MRCVS

Diane D. Addie is a veterinary virologist. After 8 years in small animal practice, she returned to the University of Glasgow to research into feline infectious peritonitis (FIP) for her PhD. She is author of the website, catvirus.com, member of the European Advisory Board of Cat Disease and Honorary Senior Research Fellow at the University of Glasgow Veterinary School.

Course Content

Infectious disease prevention is the main theme of this course - the roles played by vaccination, good hygiene practice and stress reduction. Subjects to be covered in depth include:

• Feline calicivirus (including virulent systemic FCV infection)

• Feline chronic gingivostomatitis

• Feline herpesvirus This course will also look at infectious disease control in multicat situations - especially rescue shelters, cat breeders and veterinary surgeries.

By the end of this course, delegates should be able to:

• Describe the steps involved in diagnosing a cat with upper respiratory disease

• Discuss various options for treating chronic feline gingivostomatitis

• Have good knowledge of the main causes of fading kittens
