Key Learning Objectives:

The principal objectives of the programme are to allow delegates to achieve true improvement in knowledge and expertise through a combination of didactic tuition, reflective learning, case-based discussion, practical experience, and to provide the learning towards an attainable balanced qualification.

There is no requirement that delegates on these courses must undertake the ESVPS examination. However, it is intended that delegates should be able to complete the training programme without taking excessive time away from their practice and normal activities.

The aim of the examination is to demonstrate that a delegate achieving success performs to a good standard in that area of veterinary practice. Programmes will commence in 2007, with didactic sessions to be based at training centres throughout the UK. Candidates will complete the taught part of the course over 20 months and will then be eligible to sit the final part of the examination.

Examinations and assessment will be through feedback, in–course assessment, self– and mutual–appraisal and final examinations. A detailed syllabus together with comprehensive Learning Objectives will be issued to all delegates
