Course Content

This course is designed to introduce the delegate to a logical approach to the diagnosis of lameness in the horse and pony. All equine clinicians see lame horses and ponies and it is the most common reason for referral. Many cases seen in practice can be managed and treated very effectively by first opinion clinicians and this course is about encouraging the delegates to just that. The lectures are highly illustrated by videos and photographs with plenty of opportunity for discussion and personal views. The latter part of the course is devoted to the problems of the foal and growing horse especially septic arthritis, flexural and angular limb deformities, and osteochondrosis.

Key Learning Objectives

By the end of this course, delegates should be able to:

• Describe a logical approach to any lameness case in the horse

• Discuss how the various parts of the diagnostic armoury are used, how they contribute to the overall picture and their individual advantages and disadvantages
